Carla was born and raised in San Francisco, but is inexplicably drawn to the country way of living. Some say she was a cowboy in a past life. So, naturally, she became obsessed with Americana music as a teenager. What 17 year old doesn't go through a Vassar Clements stage? Her love of music led her to a brief but glorious career as a radio DJ. She spent ungodly amounts of her college years entertaining California's central coast with folk and country gems from the record collections of KZSC, KUSP, and the (in?)famous KPIG radio.
At some point along the way, she picked up the fiddle and hasn't put it down since. Her fascination with making interesting sounds has led her to also take up musical saw, cello, singing, guitar, mandolin, xylophone, jew's harp, and anything that makes a cool noise when you shake it.
Some major musical influences include Jason Molina, Vassar Clements, Ennio Morricone, Bob Wills, Kevin Burke, Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, and Emmylou Harris. She also draws inspiration from desert sunsets, New Mexican green chilis, beautiful women, and really good pork.
Instruments: Fiddle, vocals.
