Growing up in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California, vocalist Amber was surrounded by farms and a warm, open community. She draws on this time as an inspiration for her songwriting. Amber found her love of singing at a young age, performing at the county fair and in musical theatre.
Since moving to the San Francisco Bay Area in the early '90s, she honed her musical skills in another scene altogether--as a techno DJ. As a DJ, Amber ran her own record label, co-founded a DJ and music production school, and toured locations around the world. But her return to singing is like returning home:
"There is no instrument more personal than the human voice. It is an intimate form of expression."
She explains, "To share your voice takes courage and to truly listen takes compassion. When both sides participate, the performance is greater than the sum of its parts. Pure power."
Amber's vocal influences include Neko Case, Iron & Wine, Ray LaMontagne, Emmylou Harris and Simon & Garfunkel
Instruments: Voice, rhythm guitar, bass and hand-held objects upon which force applied will generate percussive acoustic instances.
